Introducing the Hi-Phone

We see counterfeit stuff all the time over here but, occasionally, there will be a real gem. Like this Hi-Phone being sold in Bangkok. Surprisingly it's more expensive than a real iPhone. Maybe that's because it says "Product by USA" on the back. lol

Let me know if any of you want a genuine USA Hi-phone. :)

I live near a military base and G.I.'s have stuff like this all the time. I have never seen the Hi-Phone but I have seen Plaistaytion3. Looked and acted just like a real PS3.

twocik23 - It doesn't do anything the iPhone does. But it looks almost like one so uneducated consumers might be fooled to buy one.

filthrich - The local mall had an X-boy for $10 and another market had a GoodBoy, instead of a GameBoy. One of my favorites was a BMW sports jacket. But they decided to spell it BWM. And then there was a DVD of Toy Story 3 for sale in Laos. Part 3 hasn't even started production yet.

What's strange is that the Thais don't understand why we think the counterfeits are funny or why we want to take photos. When we tell them, "This is a copy." They simply reply, "Yes. But a good copy." In their culture it's ok to copy so they don't see any problem with copying other people products.

That is too funny. Bootleg stuff is just hilarious to me. Hey well at least the weather is nice over there.

I didn't know that people actually sold bootleg stuff in the open until i spent a week in Cambodia. There was a mall selling Louis Vitton (spelled "Viton"), Game Stations (an old PS1), and North Face stuff (except some of the NF patches were upside down, or the zippers had Puma pulls on them). Someone had to explain it to me that that was common, and somehow allowed over there. Some of those knock offs were dang good, though. I couldn't see the difference.

The X-Boy is an XBox knock off? What would shipping cost to send me one? I've got a birthday coming up, and the boy wants one... :)

Just got back from the mall here in Nong Khai and a few of the cell phone shops had an "aphone". It looks just like an iphone but on the back the apple logo is backwards. lol I didn't turn it on to see if it works like an iphone but I will next time.

Old old story.

That's what happened to the Neandertals....

They copied the stone axe, called it the rock chopper,

and well, the courts back then took care of the situation.

What the hell kinda site is that, and why do they have a "by unit price" on everything?

Can you actually buy things from there legally? What if you bought that particular phone (which looks kick ass by the way) and tried to have a provider like Verizon or Sprint or something activate it? Would they?

I think they might be unlocked. So if you had your sim card, just insert it and your ready to go.

Never bought one but be interested to try one out....if I had the money.
