C500: Internal bit rate shooting RGB444 10-bit 1920x1080

Trying to interpret this table from the Canon C500 manual:

c500.jpg

It looks like if I set the camera to RGB444 10-bit 1920x1080 23.98p the internal bit rate is 35Mbps, which if true, oddly enough, is lower than the C300 internal record bit rate which is 50Mbps.

OR is it saying these various bit rates are user selectable? I don't have the camera in front of me to confirm.

Thanks,

This isn't worth much since it's speculation, but I'm not reading it the same way as you.

I'm seeing it like:

For 23.98, 25,29.97, 50, 59.94 you can pick between 50Mbps and 35Mbps (or the 25Mbps 1440).

For 24p you only have 50Mbps.

If 23.98 only would allow for 35Mbps, it would have been isolated with additional lines in the table (like 24p and 35Mbps).

The reason it's broken up again all the way to the right has to do with internal/external frame rate selection and what you end up with there.

You can set the internal recording to any flavor/framerate of the 8bit 24/35/50mbs, they only serve as your proxy recordings. All the 10bit etc is external.

Correct, internal recording is proxy only. It is 8-bit YUV 4:2:2, not RGB 4:4:4 at 10-bit or 12-bit. That is output to external recorders such as the Odyssey7Q+.
