intermittent camera noise

It sounds like tweety bird has made a home in my HC-X1000. I got a constant tone a couple of weeks ago (stopped the next day and today I have this!!

I've pumped the sound up but there's clearly a problem, I switch the camera off and it stops, start the camera and back it comes.

getting warranty on an intermittent problem like this might be fun but I can't trust the camera like it is

any ideas, anyone had anything similar?

I see what appears to be a stand for a Gimbal/stabilizer there. Have you ruled the gimbal out, yet? I've heard them make crazy noises.

I don't have the HC-X1000, but most of the newer cameras do have a cooling fan buried deep inside. It normally runs very slowly but can ramp up when the camera is under stress, running for a long time or in a hot environment. The noise you recorded sounds much like a fan with the bearings going bad.

Make sure the sound isn't coming from the speaker/headphone jack (I bet not), and if it isn't, there's really no choice but to send it in for service. Even if you could get the part, you would need to deeply disassemble the camera to replace the cooling fan, and it's not worth voiding your remaining warranty for that.

It does indeed. If that's what it is you'll want to get it fixed because it won't heal itself, and it will continue to get worse. Until the fan won't turn any more. Which might lead to a cooked camera. Which no one would like.
