Interest in RENTING an Iscorama or other anamorphic lenses?

Hey HHL would you consider selling one of them?

When you say "one of them"....what do you mean? One of...the Kowas, Sankors, Keihans, Proskars, Iscos, Iscoramas, Superamas? :) (~sorry~) Could you be a little more specific? :)

Long over due....(I figured someone else would do it)...maybe they have and I just haven't read it yet. :)

(ps...gotta love that YouTube compression huh? No blocking AT ALL in the originial footy...or evn encoded footy....AS FOR THE YOUTUBE...WELL...NOT SO LUCKY)

I'm posting it here, because this is another anamorphic lens setup that I'm considering renting. It's the Keihan 16B. It's mounted on the Nikon 28-70 F3.5. So here's somethings that I have been LONG OVER DUE to test.

1. When using a 2x anamorphic lens, can you manipulate the compression and crop to make it less extreme? (Not so wide) See for yourself...decide for yourself.
2. When using a Micro 4/3 camera, is the lens vignetted pre/post crop? The wide shots here are at 28mm. So that one is answered. For MOST lenses it is post crop....so 25mm should be just fine. :) Maybe even wider. I say most, because my 14-40 Lumix lens did NOT work this way. Older lenses (FF) are CERTAINLY that way, as you can see.
3. How effectively can you use and focus zoom lenses IN PLACE of diopters? No diopters were used here...only the zoom from the Nikon lens.

Enjoy guys! ps....how interested would anyone be in renting this setup? (Keihan 16B with Nikon 28-70 F3.5)

Here is a NON-MODIFIED video (Height 50% Width 100%)

The video below is the modified version. It is supposed to be less extreme. What do you think? Enough? Too much? (Height 65% Width 120%) Also note that the contrast has been dropped 20%. It has also been desaturated 15%.

I'll post footy, pics and more details later, but, I'm so excited I just had to share. Despite what most people think, I had a theory that an Iscorama (36 type) could easily (with no vignetting) handle shooting 35mm wide with the right lens. If you get the full setup, the Iscorama comes with a 50mm F2.8 lens. Many have attached it to a Nikon 50mm F1.8...very nice I might add. Tonight I proved my theory! I am shooting 35mm wide with no problem what-so-ever. VERY COOL! To put that in perspective, the widest I had prior shot with any anamorphic lens was with a Modded Lomo...around 33-38mm. I've heard of people shooting that same width with the Iscorama 54 (usually more expensive). One of it's biggest advantages is that simple fact...shooting 15mm wider. WELL...NOT ANYMORE! :) I'll post pics and vids later.

Hi HHL,
I'm new in this forum and I just read about the Iscorama rental possibility. I'm interested if they come with an adaptor for the a Canon d5. I'll be shooting towards the end of January in Los Angeles and I'd need the lenses for a couple of days.

Here's an image of what the Iscorama 36 package (rental) has in it. (The "Ultimate Iscorama Rental" package.)
It also includes stepup/down rings for each lens to function on the Iscorama as well as attach to an EOS mount. :) There are two packages like this. As well as 2 Iscorama 54 packages. 500usd for 30day rental. Cheers!

*Please note that everyone is calling this an Iscorama 36...and I don't have any other way of letting everyone know which one it is. That said...technically it is NOT an Iscorama 36...that lens has a larger rear lens element. This is an Iscorama. Nothing else...but everyone calls it by the same name. This is a note for the purists out there. :)

Congratulations to Benjamin Brewer! Benjamin's music video for Marooned, "Dream Cop" was selected as a "Vimeo Staff Pick" and is currently on the front page of Vimeo. Benjamin Brewer rented my Iscorama Anamorphic kit and ROCKED THE BIG HOUSE with his creative vision for this one of a kind music video. It was a pleasure working with you Benjamin! I can't wait to see more of your work!
