Intercutting DVX and T2i Footage

Recently shot a wedding with my trusty DVX and also used my new T2i to get a feel for it before I start using it for paying jobs.

Quick question. I have the original DVX so the footage is in a 16:9 letterbox mostly shot at 24p.

I want to intercut that footage with some of the T2i footage.

Any thoughts on what format I should use be able to intercut the footage.

I would like to keep it in HD in Post so that some of the T2i stuff I put together to start an HD reel.

The final product would be export in SD....

If you've shot SD then edit in an SD timeline otherwise you'll be scaling up all the DVX footage a lot. It'd be better to scale down the T2i footage if your final output is SD anyway.

I supposed I can edit in an SD timeline for the whole project but then when I'm ready to take some of the better t2i sequences to export an HD master of those, I can create a new HD timeline and drag those sequences into it and export it as HD.

I suppose the transitions and effects will render in the new HD timeline and then I can export an HD version.

Am I missing something in that logic?

It's funny that as long as I've been using Final Cut Pro that since I've always been using SD DV that I've never had to deal with any of this.
