Well living in FLORIDA, I can tell you it doesn't work that way. State Farm, who has insured every vehicle I've ever driven will not Insure my camera. Neither will any other car/homeowners ins. company because you cannot live within 10 miles of a body of water. It's crazy here. Now if I have a commercial building withing which my business operates and my equipment resides, then yes I can get insurance.
Thats odd, It might be that particular insurance branch.
I use statefarm to cover my hvx and 2 P2 cards with Personal articles policy, and prof use - camera coverage, and I live in Florida, and have bodies of water on 3 sides of me with 10 miles.
