Inspiring Montage - Most Film Like Image I've Gotten

Instead of making blacks, black and shadows, black, I brought up the black level so it isnt black at all, its a bluish black.

The only effect I used was levels.

Hey Matt, this looks amazing. I think you nailed the film look.

I just got a DVX this week and I edit with Vegas - can you share any tips for simple things I can do off the bat to make my footage more film-like?

I'm also wondering how you got that dreamy almost slo-mo looking quality to what you shot. It almost looks like 16mm shot at 30-35fps and projected at 24. And how did you get those flash-frames that look like the accidentally-exposed frames at the beginning and end of a reel?

Film Flashes:
Since I am only 15 I have basically no money so I can't go and buy stock footage, so I take the smart route. I went to fotosearch, downloaded the sample of a film burn, brought it in to After Effects, blurred the hell out of it so you couldn't see any compression artifacts, then scaled it up and saved it. Then in premiere I just put it on a separate video track and set the mode to screen.

For the film look its almost like second nature now, import, color grade, I really don't even know what I do anymore I just, do it. But I either usually use Levels or Curves. SO much fast and more control, and I hate magic bullet, it has ruined a lot of films.

Yeah, it seems like alot of skate boarders opt for the realy badly distorted fisheyed 3 minutes without changing follow shots. Like you were saying on the other forum, this is way more cinematic then most skate videos.
