Inglorious Basterds !!!!!!!!!!!

After years of speculation this is going to be one of those movies I actually stoked about.

This could be huge...

I'm curious, would the title of this film be allowed to be displayed on TV ads, posters, and other marketing material to be shown to the public?

im just as excited to see this as everyone else, honestly, but I'm a bit skeptical that it will be out this time next year.

oh well, wait and see i guess. I hope it rocks :D

Wasn't Sandler attached to be in this at some point?

The only thing I ever heard about Sandler was that QT said that he wrote a part for him because he thought he would be perfect in the movie.

I don't think at this point anyone is attached to it other than QT.

From AICN, an interview with Tim Roth... Doesn't shed a lot of light on IB but still gives us hope that after 20 years we're getting close:

Quint: I was just in Romania on a movie set and some of the crew were talking about Tarantino’s INGLORIOUS BASTARDS, which you’ve been tied to, and that it is actually going forward.

Tim Roth: I’ve been hearing that since I got back from Romania with (Frances Ford) Coppola and all... but yeah if Quentin wants me, I’ll show up. If he doesn’t want me it’s OK, because we’ve been talking about that since RESERVOIR DOGS really and things change. We are still very close, but I don’t know if I’m still young enough for that character. I know the character and I know the movie and it’s good, but it’s not the Hong Kong thing. Its heart is in Europe and it’s very interesting.
Quint: He’s talked about it and how much he loves Kelly’s Heroes and…

Tim Roth: I know where he is going now and have heard some little rumor things and it’s very cool and if I can do it, I’ll do it. If he wants me to do it, I’ll do it and if he doesn’t, it’s OK, I’ll be his tea boy. I absolutely don’t care. He saved my life basically, so he’s a good guy. But yeah what are you doing?

THIS IS GOING TO BE TWO MOVIES????

I'm verrrrrrrrrrryyyyyy disappointed with this. I will admit that the premise of this movie is very intriguing, and with a great cast could be awesome. But don't double-dip us. It's condescending and it's not fair. He can spin it any way he wants (the story is too big for one movie), but I paid twice for Kill Bill, and that movie could've been shortened and told in one movie. And I can't imagine this film couldn't be told in 3 hours or less. If you absolutely have to tell it in four hours, release a four hour version on dvd, but this is very upsetting.

This should be dope. I wish he would direct more movies. This guy has to turn down work. The episode he directed for CSI was the best show they ever had IMO. From the opening frame you could tell it was different.
Kill bill Vol 1 was great. Vol. 2, I did not like and still don't. I agree that it could have been told in one movie. He has not let me down yet and this should be a hyper violent, curse word laden, blood fest of a movie, so I am in.

I'm suprised he would go for the two movie thing again. I thought that was his biggest regret on Kill Bill. One of the main reasons he did Kill Bill...he said...was to get Uma an oscar and she wasnt even nominated which he thought was because he had split it in two and made it less epic. Its epic..but not in the epic one-huge-movie-Ben-Hur kind of way. I think I would prefer Inglorious Bastards to be one film but if its two that would still be awesome. Any Inglorious Bastards at all will be awesome.

Did anyone else read in that AICN article about how Quentin mentioned wanting to start off the film with an epic slow motion scene....the likes of which has never been seen before!? Can you imagine Tarantino going all out and pouring every ounce of his talent into a slow motion setpiece?! It would be glorious!!

Tarantino's 'Inglorious Bastards' Getting Split in Half?

Anyone kind of wish Quentin Tarantino would chill and experiment with actually releasing a single, standalone movie rather than bizarro omnibuses and multi-part sagas? Well, too damn bad. Harry Knowles has a fairly lengthy piece on an interview with Tarantino that will be included for the forthcoming DVD release of the original Enzo Castellari version of Inglorious Bastards, which Tarantino is currently remaking/expanding/tributing. (Remember when he announced that he planned to have it ready for Cannes 2009? That was awesome.) In it, Tarantino discusses his plans for the film, including the fact that while writing the script (which he's still polishing), he did so much research that his story bubbled over into a second movie. In other words: here we go again.

Look, I'm happy to indulge the guy; really, I am. I sit through most movies anyway, and I have no problem sitting through an extra one by a filmmaker as interesting and skilled as Tarantino. He's bursting with ideas; fantastic. But there's a lot to be said for brevity and storytelling efficiency too.

The original Inglorious Bastards will hit DVD in a lavish 3-disc edition -- wait, make that "3-disc explosive edition" -- on July 29th. I note without comment that the Castellari film itself runs 99 minutes.

I can't get enough of QT and loved both Kill Bills. I think what many people are missing with the two KB films are that they are complete stories. Could they have been told with one film ? Yes, but so could many films that encompass sequels.

Another fine point on the Kill Bill films is that they are two stand alone films with completely different styles; one is a tribute to Hong Kong cinema while the other is a Spaghetti western. Are there wasted scenes or or dialogue in the films ? I don't think so.

I'd rather sit through two films from Tarantino than the majority of bs out now.
