after installing fw 1.2.5 I noticed that in video and recording mode when you press the info button 2x you'll see a counter showing you the ellapsed/running time.

Is this a new function or did i just missed this all this time:shocked:

It's realy handy to know when the 12min cutoff point is imminent

I'm not sure whether or not this is a new feature, but be wary about relying on it to know when you'll run out of recording time.

The recording is not limited to 12 minutes, but to 4GB. Seeing as the cameras record h.264 with a variable bit-rate, the point at which the 4GB limit is reached will depend on the subject being recorded. If you are recording complex, detailed scenes with lot's of movement, then you might only get to the 10 minute mark. If you're recording an interview with a fairly static subject against a black backdrop, you might get 13-14 minutes.

At least you have an indication that's verry usefull.

An other "extra" indicator is the "at least aprox" remaining recording time.
on a empty say 16GB card it will show 29,59 sec untill you get to that last half hour at wich point it will start counting down.

untill now i've had to rely on the shots counter that would start to count down when there was less than 999 "sec" left on the card.

Most maximum lengt clips i've shot are around 11:40 ~ 12:40 and only on dark static shot's have i been able to go much further on 4GB.
So for most situations it's a pretty good indicator... me thinks..
