Hi everybody, i would like to collect users opinions regarding the use of the indie dolly (www.indiedolly.com) with the DVX.

If anybody bought it and is using it i would like to know if it's as fantastic as it looks, the pros and cons, etc.

Thanks.

Re: Indie Dolly

I would personally rather spend the money on something else and make a wheelchair dolly.

Re: Indie Dolly

Never used it, looks interesting, but before I'd drop 6 bills on it I'd probably just build a skateboard dolly. Or I'd at least want to use it for a day. I'd never order it without playing with it first. :)

Re: Indie Dolly

A few things to consider: Even the ridable dolly version is just a triangle. That means one side has just a single point riding (2 wheels?) that could bump on track splices. It also means you can only stand on a specific side and have very little flexibility to your position with no room for any thing other than you. (i.e. you couldn't sandbag it if you wanted the camera to be hanging out and you can't have someone hand holding or doing vertical moves)

Other questiosn with any system is how much flex in the track and how smooth are the splices.

Re: Indie Dolly

I've seen this system at a number of trade shows. It's well designed and a great value for the money. Portability is the strong point here...it breaks down and assembles quickly and the joints were silky smooth in the samples I saw. It would be an ideal setup for a 100/100a package where you didn't need to ride the dolly. You might check the web site to see if it's available for rent in your area.
Just my .02.
