Indiana Jones 4

I was soooo bummed that Darabonts script didn't get chosen. He directed 2 of my 3 fav movies, both of which he wrote the adaptation for so I was crushed. I hope its not a mistake on Lucas part, but we'll see I guess.

Yeah, and he's arguably closer to the bible of the franchise than Lucas ever will be. Darabont effectively penned the back-story for every character and lead-in situation in the world of Indiana Jones. Based on Lucas' writing across his entire career, I'd much rather have Darabont as the writer of credit on this show.

Spielberg's affair with the new kid shouldn't surprise anyone. He routinely takes a perceived wunderkind under his wing for a few years at a time and we can see where each one of them has ended up.

New photos of Harrison and LeBouf on a motorcycle. Shia's rockin the whole 50's greaser vibe--

I see a problem already. That looks like an Evo engine from the 90's and up, and they didn't have disk brakes until the late 60's.

That's okay, cause Ford... er, Indy looks like he's about a hundred and forty in that picture—putting them squarely in the 21st Century. Also, the bike is being towed for process work, so it looks like the wheels and motor details might not read in their shot anyway.

I'm really skeptical, despite a deep nostalgia for Raiders. The way I see it is that you make a movie cause you have an strong, interesting story to tell. Like most sequels, this takes the opposite approach. They wanna make another movie, so they desperately try to drum up a script. The vast majority of the time, this just doesn't work.
The reason it is so hard to come up with another Indiana Jones movie is that at some point the characters and situations become a parody of themselves.

I'm sure it'll make a yachtload of money, and I am sure I will even see it, but haven't we been there and done that 3 times already?

Hollywood just makes sequels til it doesn't make money anymore...not whether there is a good film or not. I hope I am surprised with this new one, but chances are really slim.

I wish Steve would take INDY (sans Part 1) as seriously as he does his other masterpeices; Schindler's, Jaws, Munich ...

It is all just too much 'fun and games' for me these days.

You can't count him. He only appeared in one Spielberg project. Short Round was in, like, ten.

Shia will be a huge star. He was a hot property before Spielberg came along. And Ke Huy Quan isn't doing too bad, now a stunt coordinator for Jet Li. And yeah, Drew Barrymore had her troubles, but she's doing great now and has a career any actor would kill for, so I don't know where you get this attitude that Spielberg ruins young kids careers.

This might sound lame but I like Shia not just because I think he does good as an actor, but he seems like a normal guy who's talented, and has some great opportunities given to him because of it. He doesn't want to go out and become a hollywood disaster, he drives a modest car, has a normal house, refrains from going out at 3am and getting drunk off his ass and getting into newspapers (where alot of teens in 10years have gone after a few hits like he's got), and it just makes him all the more likable. You watch that indy video and he seems very very humbled to be part of something so great. He understands what good things he's been given, and from every interview ive seen, wouldn't even think of taking it for granded.

He's a cool guy. ;)
