I've been following Silicon Imaging, the RED ONE project, and CINEFORM since NAB 2006. Not that long ago. There I made my RED # 87 reservation and have followed the latest develpments on this Forem from Jim, Graeme, Stuart, Jarred and many others. What I wasn't expecting was when Jason Rodriguez of SI, or David from Cineform would stop by and participate to what I percieve as the overall advancement of the end users- the indi's. I'm greatfull for all the company's involved. The red will be my primary camera. I'm considering renting an SI if availble by Feb- if my projects ready on time. And am Looking forward to working with Cineform. I recall reading from Jason the encoded for theatrical distribution. I wanted to see if anyone here could elaborate on how that would be possible, or if Jason could do so. again thank you all- collectively we all win.

Yes, you're right, and it's nice to see this little new companies helping each other, instead of just fighting each other...
Congratulations to SI and RED (I don't really know cineform) to respect the other manufacturer and even support it, more in a mental kind of way.

Yep, what's good for one is good for all . . . while some could consider us "competiors" by nature of our respective product's price-points, I think you're going to see quite a few things from both companies that won't be overlapping as we further flesh out our products, so that in the end they will be seen as more complementary to each other where each has it's certain strengths and you'll choose your poison accordingly. And of course at the root of it I'm an end-user just like the rest of you guys . . . if someone needs help, either myself, or David, etc. are there to help.

We all have one thing in common... to provide better and more cost effective solutions to the Indie shooter than he had before we all showed up. We have great respect for SI and Cineform and we are certain that they will join RED in providing an important set of tools to unlock creative doors.
