Incompatible card?

hey all,

my brand new hvx arrived today, got plenty projects coming up and it just gives me enough time to do tests etc. thing is i just powered it up and got the message "incompatible card" on one of the 2 8gb cards that came with it. Whats that all about?

ok, formatted the card in camera and seems to work. wonder what all that was about because i received the camera with the cards already in the slots with none of them plastic covers and anything else that might have come with a pair of rather expensive media. should i complain?

Did you buy from an authorized dealer? The cards should have came in their own sealed boxes which would have the plastic container inside with the rubber boot on the card. Receiving the camera with the cards loaded in the slots would indicate that you received a used or open box demo camera and cards so if that's the case you cant complain, however if you paid for a new camera and cards then I would definitely complain.

Which vendor did you purchase from?

On the list of Panasonic Authorized US dealers?

As ozduc clearly pointed out, all p2 card come in cardboard boxes with information and warranty and enclosed in plastic boxes with rubbed protectors at the connectors. None come in the cam with nothing else.

Let us know.

I bought the camera with the cards from a (respected) panasonic authorised uk dealer. thing is i was told after money transfer that the cards were no longer in stock although having been assured that they were on the phone the day before. As i'm shooting next week i pressed them to get the order through asap. Have to say though that they were very helpful and professional to resolve the problem and got panasonic UK to send them what they had in stock. But in the end this is what i got. two cards in the camera with no rubber protectors, no warranty. and that "incompatible card" issue that seemed resolved after formatting, letting me wonder if these cards are second hand afterall.

It sounds to me like Panasonic UK didn't send them any cards and they gave you a couple they had in stock as demo's. If Panasonic UK did send them new cards, they would have certainly been in sealed cardboard boxes with the plastic containers and rubber boots inside. How are you supposed to register your cards if you didn't receive any warranty info?

ok an update: i'll keep it short. Company will send me them plastic covers and assured me that warranty applies with the receipt. I cant really complain further unless the cards are faulty which i wont know till i use them a few times.

Do i need to register my equipment (hvx/p2store/cards) to get firmware updates?

Only thing i got that looks like a warranty with my package are little green envelopes containing slips in what looks like japanese with model and serial numbers. Yet models (AJ-P2COO8HG) dont correspond to the 10 letter/digit serial numbers. Getting the feeling someone is somehow ripping me off..

The green envelope should contain the EXACT serial numbers from your card, if not, something is wrong!(and could cause you problems if you have any trouble with the insurance or police..whatever...!)

So inform us what happened..!Curious what they will tell you..!?

(To get this right-you find the serial number on the very back of the P2 card..so if they are inside of the cam, you can still read the serial...is it different from the number in the envelope?then something stinks here..!)

for those who'd like the happy ending to my saga, they said that in order to provide for the cards asap they got panasonic to provide from their reserve stock. tested before delivered. Warranty applies for 2 years with receipt. Also say that "no stock worldwide for the P2 cards at the moment." (is that true??) and that they'd be happy to replace my cards. But i'm shooting soon so i'll just stick to these me thinks. Its not so broken so i aint fixing it.
