In Bruges

Anyone seen this film? It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 2009, but when I talk about it, I feel like I'm the only one who's ever seen it.

Just wondered if anyone on here has seen it. I love the film. I'm currently debating what spot it sits at in my Top 10 of all-time. It's pretty high to the top, I know that.

I've been meaning to watch this ever since I saw Six Shooter (his academy award winning short). Top 10 of all-time, eh? Well, now I'll DEFINITELY have to check it out.

It started out a little slow and pointless, but once it got down to the nitty-gritty, it became a pretty deep and interesting story...very well told, and the acting wasn't annoying...as I was worried it would be.

No where near my Top Ten of all time, but a must-see, nonetheless.

This is a good film. Interestingly, just a few weeks after I watched it, I then saw DON'T LOOK NOW (which I had seen once before, when it was first released in the 70s). Those who have seen IN BRUGES will know why I mention this.

Loved the film, had some very dark, funny moments. Going to shoot there in April so I need to see it again.

Really right there at the top !? Honestly I can't remember the scenes...loved the ending though.

I was reading a review that said how the trailer was really deceptive about this film. How it was sold as a funny Guy Ritchie-esque action comedy but it was a really dark and sad movie.

Do you know that feeling you get when you've been lied to about a movie. A while back when In Bruges came out, the trailers pitched the movie as a wacky, Guy-Ritche-esquire, comedy with midgets and whores. Imagine the surprise of most of the movie goers when they went to see this film, and it turns out to be a very dark comedy, written about a suicidal hit man who is know facing regret and depression in the worst vacation spot ever.

@Pietro, yes IIRC, the trailer was horrible. I hate it when marketing guys decide they can't sell a film the way it is, so they try to sell it as something else. It really f..ks the movie over, as the people who come for a smash-bang comedy are disappointed, and the people who like black comedy morality plays won't know In Bruges is such a film - because the trailers pass it off as something else. So the people who would like the movie don't see it, and the people who see the movie don't like it.

That's why I'm glad I didn't watch the trailer before seeing the film (though I love Guy Ritchie smash-bang comedies almost as much as I love black comedies and morality plays...).

Yeah awesome film. I agree with the "it was too slow and boring at first" comment. IT WAS. but if you forced yourself to get 1/2 hour into it, it turned magic. When the irish song starts playing when you know who jumps from you know what.... man that gave me goosebumps. On Ragland Road... I saw here there... when she was bright and new.... dang.

Best part of the film.

Honestly, I didn't think the beginning of the film was slow or boring, though. I thought it had an easy pacing to it, and then built up to a bit more tension. If you think about it, the opening has to be slower or the ending (which is only run and gun for about 5 minutes) would be off-kilter.
