In a Pinch. Need Blank Media

Hey All,

I've got an opportunity to shoot a project this weekend and do not have any blank media. I typically order online, but am unwilling to pay the high charges for next day shipping. Can anyone recommend a tape that I could purchase at a big box retailer like Best Buy / Costco.

I've always fed my DVX Panasonic tapes due to the Metal Evaporation Technology... I'm a bit concerned about dropping a Sony or Maxwell into my camera. Should I be concerned about dropping a consumer grade Sony or Maxwell into my DVX?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

If you've been using Panasonic, go with Maxxell (not Maxwell, by the way) or TDK or Fuji. If they have Fuji, get it. But stay away from Sony.

If possible, clean your record head before and after switching tape brands.

Be careful with this. Cleaning cassettes are a terrible idea, since more damage than good can be done. And only run them in PLAY mode... though it is, again, best not to use them.

As long as you're staying with dry-type tapes, you should be fine between brands.
