C100: Improving on camera sound

Really? It wasn't possible a few months ago. It was only possible with the Ipad. What app are you using? Also, are you using the camera connection kit?

I know! It was a surprise for me too.

i use multitrack DAW and I just bought white recorder. I am going to do some test this weekend

i am also using an iPhone 4S (not 5)
 
I took a mini usb to usb cable and connected it to my Iphone usb cable with usb coupler (female-female). The phone doesn't see the mixpre d.
 
hmmm...

I used a mini usb to usb and plugged it into the iphone ( ios 7) via the usb adapter from the camera kit. then I start Multitrack and you can choose the source of each track, that's where the Mixpre-D shows up.

I am going to post pictures.

are you using the apple camera kit adapter to plug your usb? What IOS do you have?
 
Thank you for the picture. Yes my iphone has the latest version. No, I don't have the camera kit adapter. I am using the Original usb Iphone cable with a usb coupler...maybe that's the problem.
 
can you send a picture or link of the adapter? I don't even know what the adapter is....

yes i had the apple camera kit usb adapter from the ipad and i tried on the iphone thinking it would not work but it did. i recorded a test and it's pretty good. i am going to do more test tis weekend

Nice! I was starting to feel bad for you since you bought the app... Isn't it neat? Let me know what you think about your recordings. The only thing is, it's hard to monitor on Multitrack and white recorder is not much better...

My native language is french too. In fact, I almost never speak in English.
Some of my work (motocross/endurocross track design) is for a client in the states. I you're familiar with the X Games, I worked for them...as well as for the entire AMA Endurocross series.
I'm glad it finally work...I was begining to think that I had a problem with my IPhone.
Love the app. Can't find a a way to monitor though.
 
The fan is louder than any other camera i shoot with. Mic'ing off the camera with a super card. boom can pick it up. No fooling. I usually turn off my camera mic when using a lav. You can turn off the fan if needed on the menu.
 
I tested recording with the mixpre-D and an iphone using multitrack DAW and White Recorder. Both show a -20db when receiving the mixpre-d 100Khz tone when the gain is at 0 so you don't even need to calibrate anything. White Recorder doesn't have a fader and for Multitrack, just leave the gain at 0.00 and you are ready to go and you can monitor on the mixer.

Thank you very much for doing these tests...much appreciated. I am glad that I can use my phone as a audio recorder. 2 things I dislike of this set-up though: first thing, the weak connection to the phone (camera connection kit). I'm afraid that one day this will break. Secondly, by using the 30 pin connector of the phone, you're draining the battery and you're not able to charge the phone while recording.
 
Hi Doug, I am totally with you. I was just surprised that it worked. I would take it as a backup or an option to do dual record but this is definitely not the way to go :)

Well that's up to you to turn the phone function off :) I think airplane mode should do.

It's definitely not the way to go but it's nice that it works. I may use that option here and there...
 
Mine doesn't work anymore. It worked one day. Don't know if it's the connector kit or the iPhone. My iPhone speaker started to fail the day before. No sound at all but the headphone jack worked perfectly. Tried today because my speaksr suddenly came back to life...but still no luck connecting the mixpreD to the the IPhone.
