having issues important files off the camera into FCP, FCP says "file error: 4 files recognized, 0 access denied, 26 unknown", what am i doing wrong?

Do not import. Use log and transfer. Also make sure you have all the proper drivers installed.

Give us some specifics please.
Computer, OS, QT, exact versions of everything. How you copies the volume. It it intact?

you do not need any drivers.
just connect the camera to the Mac via firewire. (before doing this, make sure the menu setting in the camera is at 1394 Device (not "Host") mode.)
connect f/w cable,
turn on camera
you will see the P2 card mount in the Finder. you have two choices;
1. drag and drop the P2 card intact to a new folder (some people recommend P2CMS, but D&D works ok)
2. Open FCP and go to Log & Transfer, and the Open Folder icon
in either case; navigate to the P2 card and select either the card or the new folder. (do not try to slect a lower level folder)
you will see your clips appear in the browser for transfering, etc.

Insert between lines 4 and 5 in post above....
- after turning on the cam, press the MCR button to get to playback mode and then press and hold that button for 2-3 seconds until your cam display says DEVICE-DISCONNECT-CONNECT. Then the P2 card will mount on your desktop.
Insert after line 9 in post above...
Be sure to unmount the P2 volume before you shut the cam off and only after your cam says DEVICE DISCONNECT.
