Importing Footage AIC or ProRes 422?

Hi guys,

So I shot 1080i 24p on my XHA1.

I am editing in FCP 6. Can I get an answer on a codec question?

What should I be importing on? Apple Intermediate Codec or the new Apple ProRes 422?

Thoughts ideas?

I have seen on some forums people say ProRes is really an intel based codec and my first gen G5 may squawk a bit as it takes it through the firewire?

I've been importing with ProRes 422, but then again I'm on an iMac.

Import HDV using HDV easy setup and whatever 30P? you shot in. Work on an HDV timeline and when you are all done output using Quicktime conversion method to ProRes422. It will look fantastic. The ProRes file will ingest into either Compressor to output to SD if you wish or Cleaner for other.

Import hdv either native or as prores. AIC has no place anymore.
