hey guys! im fairly new in the message board and im havin a dilemma. i just got my fs-100 and shot some footages. now im tryin to play it on my mac. but whenever i try to play it, theres a quicktime pop up that says i have to download something for it to play the clip. recording formati that i used on the hvx is 1080i/30p and the file format is quicktime. any help will be appreciated. thanks

thanks for ur tip thoff!! is it DVCPROHD component 1.1? i just downloaded it and the clip played, the audio was fine but the video is all white.

The DVCPRO HD codec is only installed with FCP. So, unless you have FCP installed on your Mac, you cannot play the clips.

i have fcp installed but i dont think its the full version. u think if i just reinstall a full version like maybe fcp 6, it would work fine? thanks

You can not download the "DVCProHD codec."

In fact there are six separate codec packages for DVCProHD that FCP installs. And you will need the version of FCP that is compatible with your Mac.

What exactly are you installing and where are downloading DVCProHD codecs from the web?

Hey i'm looking to buy a FS-100 and there is 3 of them on BHphotovideo.

There is 2 for the HVX-200
and 1 for a HVX-200E What is the E?

I was trying to find an answer w/o posting in a new thread sorry.

The HVX-200E is a PAL model, and you need the correct FS-100 for your camera -- the FS-100 is not format-agnostic and cannot be moved between NTSC and PAL cameras.

Thank you, I guess I could have figured that out if there was two, but I was seeing 3 and I was confused, all with different prices. Then I found out 1 was an open box.
Thank you

hey guys!!

so the reason why all my HD footages plays an all white background with the audio in quicktime is because i need to upgrade my codec for quicktime??

You need to install the FCP package of DVCProHD codecs. There are six that are installed.

If you don't have those codecs, and Apple is currently the only one supplying them for a Macintosh and only through a licensed and compatible version of FCP/Studio, then you cannot play DVCProHD footage.
