lol,

mine would be

In a world where the audio kinda sorta mostly matches, the CC is somewhat consistent, and the green screen is apparant ... one man would click upload and pray for a miracle. :cheesy:

two definitions -- the one we are using basically is the marketing tagline that a studio pusts on a poster, ad, or DVD box
"in a world gone mad, Detective Joe blow takes it to the streets."

sometimes its also used interchangibly with premise:
One or two sentences a writer uses to guide herself throug the writing of a script
one or two sentences, that communicate the TRUE (not marketing) DNA, the essence of a screenplay's major characters, conflict, plot, theme, etc."

Here's an example of a pretty good logline as premise:

"Once a political idealist, Rick, an American, runs a saloon in Nazi-controlled Casablanca, bitter and cynical about life and the world because he thinks the woman he loved coldly betrayed him a couple of years before.

One night, Ilse, still secretly in love with Rick, shows up at his saloon with her husband, an heroic figure in the anti-Nazi resistance, triggering a three-way romantic conflict, with only two of them able to escape from Casablanca with "letters of transit."

Industry standard, or at least what execs want, for loglines are 25 words or less, and sum up the story/script/idea.

Kind of goes like this:
  • High Concept - typically stating a well known movie meets another known movie or concept - i.e. Terminator meets Driving Miss Daisy
  • Tag Line - VERY few words ... something catchy - i.e. Miss Daisy Ain't Drivin' No More
  • Log Line - 25 words or less, summarizing the story/script/idea VERY quickly
  • Synopsis - 1 paragraph to one page, more detailed explaination of the story

One of my favorite loglines . . . "In space, no one can hear you scream." --Alien Oh, wait. That's actually more of a tagline, isn't it?
