Import Errors in FCP

I'm really hoping that I can explain my situation and you might be able to explain to me what's going on. I have about 25 hours of HD footage shot on the HVX with a FS100. All of it was shot properly because we checked it on the camera ofter shooting and viewed it through the P2 Import window of FCP every day after shooting and dl'ing onto hard drives. Now I'm finally ready to edit and when I try to import I get the red exclamation point. When I hover over it, the message states "Error:Unknown". It seems like it's the spanned clips that are giving me the problem. The others import just fine. I have the raw footage (copied CONTENTS and LASTCLIP) on 4 drives that I want to use as backup drives. I just got 2TBs of drive to import into and work from. Before shooting, I never had any of these problems importing with tests. Did I forget something along the way?

I remember having this problem in FCP 5.1.2 and the 2.x version of the fs100. but it all seemed to be fixed with 5.1.4 and fs 3.0 .

Now i'm running into the same problem. Most of my clips import fine, however there are some spanned clips that are getting the red exclamation "error: unkown" message.

Anyone??

You mentioned having the problem with spanned clips, but you also said you were using the FS100 to record - hence you should have no spanned clips. Or is it actually spanned between 2 FS100s?

The Firestore DTE recorder family has a 2GB file size limit, so it frequently creates new recording segments. My guess is that is what the OP is referring to.

still getting this error in fcp. out of about 2000 clips it has happened to 7 so far. they are all spanned clips of over 30 minute lengths each.

P2 Log pro imports them fine luckily, so the qt's exist. however, it does not span so it is a series of 5:17 or whatever clips.

it then is most definitely a problem with fcp, but what i don't know.

install an earlier version of FCP and see if that fixes it. It did with me and my problems. Now Ii'm running 5.1 and it's working
