import dvd

Hello,
I need to import a dvd in FCP the highest quality I can. I have MPEG Streamclip 1.8, I dragged the icon into the square and I got “unsupported file type”. Any suggestions?
Thank you.

If I remember correctly, Mactheripper will just extract the footage to video_ts files. You'd still need to convert to something FCP can read. Mpeg streamclip always works perfect for me...

try connecting a dvd player thru a dv cam and capture dv realtime. kinda oldschool but works great and takes about the same time as rip/convert methods.....

Why not use the original footage.

Anything that needs to be "ripped" raises issues of encryption and copyright.

Some of us don't feel it a good idea to provide advice on these items if in fact that it what is being done.

well, some of us get cheated and the only access we have to footage of things we've done is on the final DVD copy of a film

And all I'm doing is trying to justify stealing scenes from a Michael Cimino flick and putting them on my reel in hopes no one notices. ;)

Thanks - I have to do a conversion next week (nothing illegal, but the original footage is apparently lost forever). I will definitely be trying both.
