iMovie is driving me crazy

Hi guys!
I had some clips and I wanted to do some SDE or raw cut and I find iMovie 09 really fast for that purpose.
I don't know why the clips appear to be really darker and very noisy only on iMovie.
At the beginning I was thinking it could be a realtime playback issue or a codec issue so i've exported via quicktime in uncompressed AIC @ 1080p but the problem stays.

I'm not exactly sure, but $20 says it has something to do with gamma curves and color management profiles.

How can I manage them?
On mpeg streamclip while converting or on iMovie?
