image shifts when I pan...

I thought it was just the image stabilzers acting up... it could be some kind of artifacting I guess but what happens is that when I move the camera slowly panning or up or down motion.. but slowly.. the image sometimes gets sticky and does sort of a pause for a quick half second and catches up to the rest of the image...

it's kinda like how the image might shift if left on a tripod and you have your stabilizers on and an object on screen passes by and the stabilizers kick in.. and it tries to compensate... i dunno what all that is called... anyway...

this one is much more severe .. I think perhaps the image sensor might be breaking down...

It's the OIS doing what it thinks it's supposed to do. Turn the OIS off and all that should go away. You should always have OIS off when you're using a tripod.

but it happens mostly when im on handheld. perhaps maybe my panning is too slow and it thinks that its shaking. It just seems out of place and kind of annoying actually.

well thanks Barry.

It's still the OIS.

When you start your your move, the OIS can't tell if it's intentional or a wobble. so it tries to compensate for it untill you move far enoguh for it to realize it's intentional, then it hurries to catch up.

You don't notice it as mcuh with faster moves, but in general the OIS should be off if possible - on a tripod, good handheld, etc...
