C200: iMac Pro for c200 footage

I'm looking to upgrade my editing style and quality but my 2016 MBP (15" 2.7 i7 Quad 16G Ram Radeon Pro 2GB) is not able to keep up. I'm preparing to buy a iMac Pro to remedy this. I just don't know what configuration. I currently use FCPX, Red Giant plugins, Davinci Resolve and I want to use After Effects and premiere soon.
These are my concerns:
- Does Core Speed take precedence overall? Or Core count? With FCPX I *THINK* that everything is so optimized that you will get better results out of the Mose expensive machine you can buy.
- Would it be best to get two base model ones and have DaVinci rendering heavy color on one while the other is used to edit Raw footage and replace with final colored videos later?
- Would Two Vega EGPUs do the job on my current MacBook Pro via Thunderbolt 3?
- I'm eying the speed and space of the 4TB SSD so I can edit on it and offload when I'm done.
- Is the screen good enough for Pro Color grading?
- Are a couple trash cans better now that they're 2k on BH?

What I'm realizing is that the C200 is more than enough for ANY level music director. Music videos from the 2000's had such great color and contrast and the c200 trumps anything they were shot on.
RED & ALEXA always have this advantage: 9/10 times cheaper cameras are in the hands of far more less skilled and funded creators/projects. While Red & Arri are usually shot in better lit, shot and colored projects, making them appear to be miles ahead in image quality when in reality its the crew, production and finishing that are shining far more that the camera choice.

So in short, I'm DONE with sending out mediocre product that just been color balanced lol. I want color and edit to the MAX.

I'm editing CRL in FCPx or DaVinci on an iMac Pro: 10 cores, 128GB, Vega64, 2TBSSD. The 10 core version seemed to be the best balance between individual core speed and multi-core total. FCPx makes much better use of the HW but neither struggle. the 128GB was not required (save yourself some $ - this application just does not need that much memory.

I was thinking go with the base 32GB until I can max out the ram later and use that money to get 4TB SSD, seeing how it's almost the fastest money can buy. Apple will upgrade the ram in store for you later. Could you add a lot of effects on it and let me know how that goes?

Upgrade the ram now, why go through the trouble of going to the apple store later? Ram is more important than hard drive space, considering you can just get an external raid or something. This is a big investment and its at such a cost that you either do it right from the start or just wait until you can.

I agree. You don't need more than 64, but I definately use 64 regularly. Finally, yes, you don't need to worry about processing titles, fx, etc. Even Neat is reasonably fast compared to other platforms.

I just pulled the trigger on this last night (10 core, 64 ram, 16 gpu) mainly for c200 and gh5 editing. Upgrading from the 2010 Mac Pro so hoping the difference is night and day.

Awesome, how do you like the GH5 10-bit compared to the c200 10-bit raw? The 10 core iMac should be worlds better that what most of us are using.
