I'm so Frustrated AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Okay after reading this i know i fall into newb completely and i understand. I have a simple Panasonic GS300($500 at the time) The tripod i use dwarfs the size of this already small camera and I feel like a hack with this type of equipment. And thats probably becuase i am. But my wife wants to get me a higher end camera($2000-$3000) for xmas...but i dont know if that will even do me any good....because i dont have any of the other stuff. Well a green screen but without good lighting that thing is simply grey behind the actors.

So after reading Timur post it made me think...why don't i go for the boom mic and some lighting and work with my camera for a another year and see where i go with this stuff.

So i guess...would it be smarter to keep my semi-decent camera(preety good clarity, but horrible audio...obviously it sthe on board mic) and get a Boom mic(hopefully around $300...but i need suggestions for this as well.)

OR

Get a newer camera like i said before.....

And I wanted to thank all that posted...nice to see im not the only one who fills lost in the world of kick ass cameras that i dont understand. :)

Well said!

The biggest mistake made by new camera owners is thinking the equipment will automatically make them creative. They've been sold on the idea of "easy".

In many ways today it is easier but you still have to work for it and "learn".

Get back to basics.

Forget about a jib. You're a long way off from needing one.

Tell a story. Find a subject that interests you and start shooting.

Step by step you will get there.

There is no shortcut to learning how to produce good work.

Yeah, that is way too true! Just get out there and shoot some video!

And yes, HAVE FUN!

what Jade and tmnt said...........

"And sadly, when I look at the work I did before I got gear lust, they were in some case better than stuff I did after."
