Sooo, I have not been on the site in quite some time, however, last time I was, word was that the RED camera was going to cost, with lens and all the hoopla, like, I dunno, twenty thousand dollars or something...

Sooo, yeah... wuddup wit dat? I thought this was gonna be like, a sweet deal or whatever, a, to quote the company, "something that any small retarded child with psychological mind control powers could afford," yes, those were his exact words, I'm sure of it.

So, even if these were not his exact words (which they were), you know what I'm saying.

This whole thing soundsd a little shady. Also, why does the model look like Megaman's left arm (you know the arm that is a gun).

If I had a child with psychological mind control powers, I'd be rich. Imagine poker games, casino, etc.

Anyways, I think alot of people are disappointed that RED doesn't break the sub$10k barrier. IMO, sub$10k is an impossibility at this moment. I wish it wasnt so. But RED would lose so much money if they sold their cam at sub$10k. They wouldn't be a viable company.

The bottomline is, probably 90percent of the people on this forum can't afford $20k for a camera. They'll just have to rent. Or they can start saving now cuz the camera probably won't be out til next year.

yeah yeah. Megaman was SICK.

That'd be a great level. You know how Megaman had to go battle Leaf Man or whatever to get their powers...

well he could jump and stuff thru the OAKLEY BUILDING (which looks like a Megaman level totally) , then he could take a flying platform to the Red Development area where he battles the level boss JANNARD.

Only then will he get the powers of 4:4:4 4k res and a Red Camera for his arm.

The resoloution of which he could use to blow other mo fos away.

El Stupido.

Just a note, Megaman 2 was the best, but that's neither here nor there. What I really want to say is that, her I am posting a perfectly reasonable comment, and inquiring whether or not the whole RED thing sounded shady, and all people can do is insult not only hardcore drugusers but also my intelligence; which is also neither here nor there...

Moving on, yes it is reasonable for it to cost that much, however it is a little shady that they would come on and promote it as something that the aforementioned child could afford. And that is exactly what they did. No one else sees that as lying? I do. A lie by implication.

So, taking that into account, along with the model of the RED camera (which reminds me of those 'cars of the future' things that they'd have at car shows, you know, all totally futuristic and ridiculous looking) I don't really understand what's going on with all this.

All the resolution talk and whatnot, and yet at NAB (or whatever) they had nothing?

Wuddup with that?

Red is something special!

Red is something special!

I see your point but heres another slant on it.

I am a beginner at this but even i can take in what red is doing and see it as something special. This is a camera about to be unleashed that is likely to change the way many people view video and the way many people might even view how they select a camera (modular is just wow!) in future. Why should a camera after say three years be out of date!! If it is really cheap fine, if not why purchase it if it could become obsolete in a short period of years. I want to purchase a camera that i can learn how to use it for many years. I DONT want to have to learn again with another camera.

When someone like myself who i openly admit has had so little experience overall and even in operating in manual mode for instance in any camera, yet willing to save up everything to possibly purchase a red one, it must have struck a cord!

Over this lst six months I have looked at every camera available and they had some of the things that i needed, NONE had all of the things! Red looks like it will have ALL of the things. Is it expensive for me and the majority of those on this forum...probably. is it worth it? Only time will tell.

As a beginner i can look at things from a totally neutral stance. I am learning as much i can and so far i realise that to do things professionally involves having the right tools. Whatever camera i purchase i realise from reading the many great comments that some of you have posted that the camera is but one of those tools. All the other items to add to the camera all costs money, so the tools to do the job becomes expensive to say the least. Whatever i purchase i want it to have a long life. I cant afford red but i will go all out to purchase. i cant afford all the extras, but if they are going to have a long lifespan then i feel much more secure that i am NOT throwing money away.

If i find (more than likely) that i dont have the skill to film, to get the sound right, to do the editing, i can sell the lot and complete the video i want to do for better or worse.

Will Red succeed? A difficult task ahead for them, but not as difficult as it would be for me to learn all of this in such a short time scale!

If I FAIL i will have purchased a camera that is well sought after. If i listen to all the advice with purchasing all the other items to go with red then i will have equipment (tools) that most on this forum will recognise as fit for purpose. Red being modular will mean i can sell at a higher price than most cameras that have a limited life expectancy. The quipment being geared to red will also likely command a better price, so in the end it may not cost me much more than a simialr short life camera and add ons to do a video with Red. Now ask yourself would you rather do a project with a red 35mm camera or a 1/3 rd ccd HD CAMERA?

I may no NOTHING about this subject other than what i have read here and on other forums. My impression so far..... is that Red will become the camera to have and others will have no choice but to follow in reds footsteps. I don't see anything shady about Red in any shape or form just clever marketing thats all. When you advertise on telly for say Mars Bars for instance you dont tell people that they are bad for your teeth or that they contain so much suger, you tell only the good parts! I see nothing wrong with Red doing the same.

My only concern and it is probably a concern for some in this forum is that the wide angle zoom lens that will eventually be made by Red (i hope)will be too expensive. That the other deemed necessary extras will likewise be too expensive.

But if Red can surprise and shock again with its price of its lens and other initial add ons, then Red WILL capture more than a few on this forum.

Other items over and above the deemed necessary could THEN command a higher price, by then Red will have gained massive popularity we hope.

Sorry for the long post but coming from a beginner i hope you can all excuse me. i am just excited about this camera:)

Michael

Okay, first of all, is there anyone in the world who likes Megaman 1? I hate it. It's like, impossible to beat right?

And in regards to, "It is, simple as that."; thank you, I guess I never thought of it that way.
