I'm in production and can't offload . HELP

Hi, I have a problem, I have both the new macbook pro and and old one with the express card slot. I Have been offloading straight final cut but the computer freezes from time to time. I need to know step by step the best way to do it in both or one of each cause the software that came with my HVX doesn't even show up as an application. Am I doing something wrong. How should I offload ? please help me.
Thanks

Someone correct me if I'm wrong - but isn't the P2 software that comes with the camera strictly PC?

Do you have version 5.125 of Final Cut, optimized for p2?

Again what version of Final Cut Pro are you running on the MacBookPro?

It must be version 5.1.x, and it cannot be installed on two laptops.

the version is FCP 5.1.2 it{s cool but it freezes from time to time.
What I want to ask is if you guys know the proper way to transfer it on an old powerbook ,the one that has the slot for the p2 card.
I got the software that came with the camera. and even worked on a film where they were offloading to a mac powerbook using the slot and putting it in the external hard drive and I have no idea how to do this.
Thanks for the interest.

You are in the Mac Zone. I don't mean that in a negative way, it is just as a Mac user my self, the freezes happen when you insert a P2 card, and the Mac hiccups when it tries to power up the PCMCIA slot.

The only way I have ever assured myself that it won't happen is to reboot the Mac prior to the day's work and insert a P2 so the slot warms up. For people that never turn their Macs off, this is a pain, but it works. Their may be a better solution, but I have not found it online.

If your problem is more basic than that, then you need to install the P2 driver that came with your Panasonic Software. Once installed the P2 card shows up on the desktop and you can either archive it to a folder or import it into FCP, which infer that you have been able to do already.

Is that making sense?

Copy your P2 card stuff to an external hard drive, move that to the new MacBook Pro. OR just copy the P2 data off the cards while still in the camera. Then you don't need the old Powerbook.

I have had the problem of the mac G4 laptop freezing up when inserting a P2 card in the PCMCIA slot. For a while I was just powering down and re-booting when it would happen. Then on one shoot I was on, I got distracted doing something else after I had inserted a card and it froze the mac, so I didn't get to power down right away but when I went back to the computer to power down the P2 card had popped up on the desktop and the computer wasn't frozen anymore.
So I did a few tests and came to the conclusion that each time you insert a card, it takes the computer longer and longer to recognize it. If you just wait for a while it will eventually come back from being frozen. One day I had off loaded about 30 cards and by the end I was waiting sometimes for up to 1-2 minutes for it to un-freeze.
