Hello fellow dvxuser forum friends! I was wondering if i can get some advice for packing for an overseas trip. I received an awesome opportunity to travel to europe, india, and singapore this year to film and to produce a documentary. I would really like to take a portable lighting kit....do you guys know any you would recommend? Also what power adapters would i need? Also...what case would you guys recommend?

Thanks a lot! :costumed-smiley-047

just in case you haven't thought about this

travelled to europe and china with an HV20 and an A1, when shooting in some fluorescent lighting the flicker due to 50 hertz was very strong sometimes

so if you are planning to shoot indoors a lot, I would recommend handing the camera to canon to add a 25p 50i fps option (US $500)

Danny,

Can't speak to the light kit, I've 2 cents on the other two. You might want to check with Canon on the power adapters. I've traveled around the world and some devices have pretty specific needs when it comes to power. I can bore you with details but a call to Canon would be quicker.

As for a case, Pelican. You didn't mention whether you're traveling rough or posh, but given the locals you mention rough seems a distinct possibility. I think Pelican gives the best protection out there and they can get completely immersed in water and not leak. It will also protect you camera if you're forced to check it as baggage.

If you're going to shoot outdoors, I suspect you'll be bringing a raincoat for your cam too.

Bon chance.
