Ikonoskop RAW DII 1st Camera Delivered!

The point is, you HAVE to mount it to something (at least a shoulder rig) or be shaky.

I hear what you're saying. A conventional shoulder camcorder (like the news people use) may be easier to be kept stable handheld, especially for long periods.

However, you are on DVXuser. :)

What I can´t hear anymore is guys that come to me and say:

"Look how small and light it is, now I can make a blockbuster without any other gear.
Just waiving the camera around will do the trick. "

Won't hear that from me.

Gotta admit, that thing is pretty slick. I'd like to hear more about usability and workflow down the road.

I welcome the small form factor. Like I mentioned earlier, this is really a great lower cost to the Silicon Imaging SI-2k, in the sense that it's a very small 2/3" / 16mm sized camera.

I look for cameras like these for many shoots where room is limited, such as a scene within an ambulance where production does not have the money to purchase or rent an ambulance set with fly away walls.

I'm excited for this cam.

I really wonder what we'll see as the results of those brave souls who purchase this camera!

I can't wait until the first user footage is out! The IKON guys have been piecing it out in the most miniscule morsels....

Aaah, it's nice to know someone is out there shooting DNG in Sweden right now, as we speak....

Also due to the Cinema DNG, I am pretty sure you will be able to Colour correct in Adobe Lightroom...which may mean very little to those who have never used it, but to those who are familiar, it would be quite the treat.

This sounds great but Lightroom is not setup to handle so many frames in a decent workflow. I think this would need a RAW video editor unless somebody could write a plugin for Lightroom edit video.

Forget Lightroom for Video- different beast.

But After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 are both able to read CinemaDNG video streams in the form of MXF files and DNG file sequences.

But that's true of any camera.

I think this camera looks better for handheld than most, because of how close you can hold it to your head:

Not really - good handheld is really shoulder mount, and heavy. A good shoulder cam is an Alexa, a Red or a larger P2 in terms of weight and size.

Yes the eye piece looks problematic....but I like the size and weight, since I am more into being non visible as camera operator. and since I only do doc-style films I love the idea of being able to have my subjects forget that somebody is filming them!

Their goal was to build as small a camera as possible, so I don't see the point comparing it to native shoulder cameras. If you need that, you can always build a rig to use it as a shoulder camera.

Compared to cameras that are actually designed to be held in the hand (EX1, HVX200, etc), this camera looks to have superior ergonomics.

Long ago, I remember reading it in the official specs but 30 seam to have replaced 60 in that spot. For sure having 1080 60p would have caused a lot of heating issues and I thought it was going to be that advanced. I still wouldn't mind owning it.
