Ikonoskop RAW DII 1st Camera Delivered!

I love this camera, its simplicity and to the point philosophy, CCD sensor (global shutter) and all that...

But workflow is really slow from start to finish and external recorders are getting (as far as I have seen) strange signal (maybe they will fix it).

I wish it had m4/3 sized sensor with better DR and low light and 2k 60fps.

I really like the images the camera produces, and the pared-back philosophy of it all. The global shutter from the CCD really does improve the appearance of motion, I've been telling myself over and over how most of the CMOS rolling shutter stuff is 'good enough', and I suppose for the most part it is.

But seeing global shutter at 24p again, and having seen the motion from the mechanical shutter on the F65 the other night - I'm convinced now that it does still make a difference.

I think this is the best raw camera option at the moment. If it cost 6k-7k full setup USD I think it would be a huge hit on the scale of an HVX200.

It really has that super 16 look, and the CCD's look SOOOOO much better than CMOS, which is the main reason I never jumped on the whole DSLR/ RED bus. Hopfully the Euro will continue its decline (sorry europe) and maybe we can get them 1/1 euro usd. Would be about 8k USD if so.

Amen to that. So excited to see how the new Alexa performs with that mechanical shutter...Deakins is using it on the new bond film. But really, I would love to shoot something on this camera, I too really like the feel of it. Well from what I have seen anyway.

+1 there is nothing like a CCD and global shutter - the way it renders motion is so different.

I would love to give the A-cam a test ride, to see what you can get out of it.
But they are not for rent - at least not around here.

I think using an external recorder would speed things up. The super slow dumping of the magazines is a PITA.

"We are happy to announce the new firmware version 1.22 for the A-Cam dll. The new version supports the MK-3 ExpressCard reader, adds the framerate 23.98fps, makes it possible to choose rec run or free run as primary timecode and will show the menu on side display. We have also made firmware and hardware improvements to further enhance the image quality."
