Ikan V5600 and the 7D

I've scoured the internet and can't seem to find the answers to these two (ok, three) questions:

1. Does the image while recording with the 7D fill the entire screen on the Ikan V5600 or does it letterbox a 4x3?

2a. How does the image look since the monitor only does 1080i and not 1080p?

2b. Is there any delay in the signal feeding to the monitor ala the 5D?

So far this monitor looks like the perfect (or at least best available) mix of size, weight, and price, especially for going handheld/run and gun.

The guys at my local Ikan/Microsearch office can answer your questions, maybe you can post them. 713-272-8822.

I too would like to know the answers to these questions. I am very close to purchasing but need to make sure im getting the full image and that there is no significant delay to make shooting with it moot.

Called them and they didn't have a definitive answer for #1, although he thought that it displayed 16x9 full screen.

#2 said shouldn't be a problem, because if the cam only output 1080p and not 1080i, the monitor would not work at all and he's gotten reports that the 7D works fine with it

3# again said that he thinks there's no delay with the 7D but that wasn't coming from him firsthand

So #1 definitely still needs answered, #2 seems good, and #3 could use a confirmation if there's anyone out there that can help

I found this:

Another quick question, given any choice of battery pack ( if i have no preference or don't own any batteries ) which one is the recommended one to choose for best performance and lowest price? Maybe also the most easily accessible??

I picked up a 5600 from the Ikan office yesterday to demo for the weekend. Right out of the case, I love it. Super light weight. This one has the L series batt plate.
#1, it does exactly what the other monitors do that we've read about, including Marshall, while recording it does indeed put a small border around the edge, a half inch or so. If you have INFO on, it goes even smaller to 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 and puts the info along the side.

In playback, it is full frame. Re 1080 or 480, honestly can't tell and it doesn't have an indicator--but it is super clean and very pretty for playback, quick reference. Makes focusing a breeze because it is so sharp. Not very many adjustments available, like sharpness---just contrast, sat, and brightness. No hue. And it has to be at the perfect angle.

After spending a few hours with it, hard to imagine just using the little 3" LCD again, which I can't even see clearly with my glasses. I use a Z-finder at all times because the 3" is fairly useless to me.

I have a 7D, there's no long delay or anything. HDMI cable is firmly in place. The smaller the battery, the better re weight.

Questions before I return it???? I'll try to get back to you.
