For those with pre May06 HVX200s, I'd appreciate some feedback so we can assess our workflow.

If your battery tabs did break on the HVX200, could you briefly explained what circumstances caused them to break?

I ask that we all avoid any diatribes about Panasonic etc. I just ask to discover what were you doing when they broke, and how could you have avoided it if you could.

Some people claim the tabs on these pre May2006 cams weaken.

Any anecdotal info about that.

Thanks and please just keep it to the topic.

I bought my used early model HVX with its battery tabs already broken. The guy said that they broke because he would never take the battery out while transporting it. It was cool though, because I got a pretty good deal on it, and it still had its warranty through panasonic, so I got it all fixed for free.

Anyone get the feelin of Deja Vu? I though this was already set up in a poll a couple of months ago.

I'm just asking what to avoid.

We are trying to assess whether to get the tabs fixed before they break by learning how prone they are to breaking.

With all due respect, if don't have any information on that concern, which I detailed in my original post, then please don't judge my concern.

We are quoted at about $500.00 for shipping, and if the tabs aren't likely to break, then I don't want to spend it.

With all due respect david you are beating this to death. One of my tabs broke and my camera is months past warranty. I called Panasonic and they fixed it for free and sent it back in less than a week at no cost. Not only did they fix the battery tabs but they did a service check too. Panasonic has been fantastic espcially the tech workers in New Jersey. Why don't you just talk to every service center. There is no reason to pay this $500. Maybe you got that quote because your tabs are not broken.
Panasonic gave me no grief at all accepted their responsibility fixed it and sent it back. Why you are having such a hard time on this I do not know.
