If you really want out...

+1. i'm loving the CS upgrade, but still using FCP 6. You know, whatever works for the specific person and makes them happy.

Now I need a faster video card for this Mercury Playback engine.
You don't need it. The Mercury Playback Engine will work without a CUDA card, you just get added benefits with it. The MPE is based on a number of things including the fact that it's a 64bit application, addresses all RAM and will push all CPU cores.

In the end, the downward price spin is not so bad. I just got my copy of DaVinci Resolve, which would not have been economically accessible to my indie film work years ago. Now, it is a fairly affordable tool for freelancers, and I got to see how much Davinci Resolve really is a better tool than Apple Color. I am glad that Resolve did not get any of features cut like Final Cut Pro X, but that said, I think the higher level tools are getting closer to our reach now too. I am kind of glad that Apple pushed me out. If there had been another version of Color, I would not have been so quick to jump on Resolve, just out of habit.

Right, I didn't *need* it, but dammit, it felt good to order the Quadro 4000 today. Stoked!

I just did a trial by fire all day edit on Premiere. I think I could get used to a switch.
