Better than sleeping pills. Shot on a Canon EOS 7D DSLR on the bleak moors of County Durham.

Camera was set flat, sharpening, contrast and sat all down, HTP off and then a clumsy grade applied in FCP.

Lenses:

Canon 10-22mm F/3.5-4.5
Canon 50mm F/1.8
Olympus Zuiko 24mm F/2.8
Olympus Zuiko 135mm F/2.8

Music: Three Sisters by Hammock

I commented on this on vimeo, but it deserves one here as well. I think it's spectacular.
I just wanted to know exactly which type of lenses you used. (FD, EOS etc...) I'm not very familiar with still lenses sorry...
thanks ;)

Thanks for your kind comments David!

The lenses are EOS (EF) and Olympus OM Zuiko (with adapter).

Used in the right conditions, the 7d can rival an HD camera with adapter. It is limited to those conditions however, and it'll be some time yet before I part with my HVX200 and Letus.

Wow very cool. Kept me entertained even though you claimed it would put me to sleep...

The only thing I wish was different was the shutter speed. There was one shot (can't remember which - it was somewhere in the middle) where something moved across the frame quickly and it had that strobing effect.

It wasn't a shutter speed issue - if you mean the shot with the car moving left to right, the camera was shooting 1080 25p with a 60th sec shutter. I think it's the LED rear lights that give the impression of strobing.

For a clip like this I'd never increase the shutter speed beyond a 60th unless overcranking, when I'll try to approximate 180 degrees.

euan, what do you think are the greatest deficiencies with the 7D when compared to your HVX? other than audio of course.

Yeah that's odd. Looking back at it again I can't remember what made me think it was a higher shutter speed... Nevermind. Disregard my other comment. Haha

For me, the first and most obvious issue is aliasing. It's most notable in detailed, high contrast scenes with a lot of DoF and some movement (for instance, panning along a brick wall). Then there's the rolling shutter - I'm very impressed with The Foundy's Rolling Shutter plugin, but you still have to shoot with it in mind. I personally hate the jelly effect. I notice it even with small movements. Also the form factor takes some getting used to, but as most of what I've shot with it has been on a tripod, it's not been too great an issue.

You can achieve lovely images with the 7d so long as you work within its limitations, you set it up right and you know what to expect from it.
