If Premiere is running slow, uninstall QuickTime.

From time to time, I saw my i7 860 not being utilized fully. I thought it was the due to certain plug-ins only using 1-2 cores of the system.
Then, using Process Explorer, I saw Quicktime Server 32 was running under Ppro. Knowing Ppro does not rely on Quicktime anymore and that QuickTime is still a 32 bit application which does not take advantage of quad core, I unstailled Quicktime from the system.
The result: CPU usage went up from 25% to 99% meaning that real-time playback that was not possible became possible and encoding speed is much faster.

Sadly, if you uninstall Quicktime, you loose iTunes too. Is there anyway to disable PPro's use of QuickTime without disabling iTunes too?

You also lose the ability to use the Avid DNxHD codec and I believe a part of the Cineform functionality relies on QuickTime.

AE give me a warning sign that it needs QT but it works fine so far. For I need to use Avid DNxHD sometimes, I installed Quicktime alternative. I do not fully know how it's different than regular QT but it is working fine without a problem.
However, even with QT, the problem did not surface until later so I'm not 100% positive QT alt. will be problem free in the future.
