IDX Battery Adapter

Hi all,

A while back I saw some on-set photos of a student film crew using a DSLR (could be a 5DMk2 or 7D), but to power it they seemed to be using some sort of adapter for IDX batteries, though I'm assuming it would work for any V Mount battery.

Does anyone know any good brand/models of these? I need one for an upcoming production as carrying and changing multiple 7D batteries is very cumbersome.

Thanks.

Hey Dave,
You have a couple options. Firstly you can go either V-Mount lock style batteries (like IDX) or anton Bauer.
Here is the V-Mount Version- http://www.evsonline.com/switronix-powerbase-70-hdslr-v-mount-battery-pack.html
This is a great battery pack for small rigs, as the cable for the battery is very very short, so it's actually designed to go directly under the camera (assisted by it's built in quick release system)
If you want to go on a shoulder mount or something with a longer cable, I'd suggest the Anton Bauer QR DSLR plate- http://www.antonbauer.com/Products/QR-DSLR
This adapter connects natively to the Canon AC adapter.

Both are great options, and the Switronics version has a plentiful amount of 1/4 holes and P-Tap ports though, and are designed a little more specifically for compact rigs.
