Ideas to mount a zoom h4 on a dslr?

I have a Zoom H4. I lost the tripod mount thing that you can put the H4 into. I've looked all over the internet to buy a replacement but I don't see anywhere where that can be found unfortunately.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to mount an H4 onto the shoe of a dslr? Or rather..

How do you have your audio equipment attached to your dslr?

But the problem is he has the zoom H4 not the H4n. With the h4 you need the plastic shell otherwise there is no 1/4 20 hole to attach the device to anything, be it vocas arm or flash shoe.

If I were you I would write to zoom, here is a link to their contact page

also search craigslist for used or broken zooms and put a want to buy ad in craigslist

as far as mounting zooms H4 that has the shell or mounting a zoom, i started a thread on this very topic last year when I got my GH1
Zoom mounting options

So when I was at B&H I found that the Audio Technica shoe mount I mentioned in post 1 doesn't fit in the GH1 shoe.
Its slightly too big and I didn't want to force it so the parts I got were

$5.95 Bogen Female 3/8 to Male 1/4 LINK

I also tested with the Giottos mini ball head but the Zoom felt too high up.
The above mentioned parts means the Zoom is low and manageable but you can see and still access all GH1 controls.
Hope this helps you all, glad I can finally give a little info back to the community.

Hmmm very good advice all around. Thanks a lot for the input Opherba and J Davis. I'm quite considering selling the H4 for the H4N even.. it seems like they really improved upon it by leaps.

Yeah I am using the H4 at the moment too... I do wish it had the 1/4" mount on the bottom to attach it to the rig - so industrial velcro works really good instead. Its not going anywhere.

The Halo Rig mini is designed to support a digital recorder mounted along side of the camera, not only in a good location but always attached to your rig no matter on the tripod or flying hand held. pic:
