ideal starter package for NOOB

Hey guys, Let's say that I already got myself a DVX100 and need accesories and I have a budget of $1K to spend. What would be your ideal package. You know, mics, tripods, headphones, etc.

Keep in mind that I'm a NOOB and just starting to get into Filmmaking & DV. I know I'll definitely need a good mic, tripod, headphone, perhaps a boompole. My goal is to be making short-movies once I get the hang of the DVX and basics of film-making.

you should look into some AZDEN 100x sgm's i beleive is the model # ... decently cheap and provide a good sound to start with, would fit in nicely with a 1k budget

Budget for a basic lighting kit. You NEED lights. A good mic, boom, and some wind protection if you are shooting outside. A good fluid head tripod. Lots of tapes. Appropriate storage for everything.

LOL! Nice.....

Would a Bogen/Manfrotto 501/503 be a good starting tripod? How much are they selling for currently anyways?

What's a good Mic for shooting both inside/outside? I'm assuming I would need to get one w/phantom power as I don't and won't have the budget to get my hands on an external recorder. After countless hours of browsing this site, many seem to covert the Audio Technica 4073A.

ahhh....so many questions....

Thanks for the replies guys, this site and it's users are just awesome.

I like the 503 head. You can pick up the head and sticks for about $500-$700 depending on the sticks.

As far as the audio questions go there is a great sticky in the audio section that should help you out. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=51526

I got my tripod out of a trash bin at work hehe. But its very solid and has a great fluid head on it. I think they used it for old 16mm camera's back in the 60's and 70's.
