Ok this is one of my better ideas I read the previous ones (All good I might add) but I don't think I have seen this.
A WIRELESS PAINTBOX! Using bluetooth or some other type of system, the camera and almost every single feature:
I.E. White balance, Gamma, shutter, etc. Can be controlled via a laptop or PDA (You could also throw in my text messaging idea for kicks)
This would allow engineers and DPs to work the camera at the video village with ease.. If wireless is a problem, screw it, use a cable, but it's still a good idea.
This same signal would also contain information for people like the script supervisor. Shots could be tracked via a database settings could be customized for other dept that need camera information. A simlar system was set up for ILM for Ep III, however what I am talking about is TWO way communication. Getting info from the camera, and then changing the camera's settings if nessesary.
What we are talking about here is more of a communications protocal so that, like the hardware, vendors can create custom software for the camera in order to handle various jobs.
