call tech support tell them that your friend just got a new gh1 and it has a new version of the firmware(1.34) and your upset because you want this new version and its not available. tell them that the current version you have is buggy and you demand the latest and greatest. its your right as a consumer. have them email it then forward it to vitality. done and done.

good plan...go for it buddy! =)

they have probably just read this so better get onto it quick smart before they send the memo out..lol

No go as in "no, you can't have it", "no, firmware 1.34 does not exist", "no, we also religiously read DVXuser, you smarty ;)"?

No go as in, "no, you can't have it because I don't have access to it."

You might have a better chance though if you were more ambitious and went for a higher level tech support, which I was too lazy to do.

Perhaps we should fire up the donations again and offer up a reward for the someone within Panny to come over to our side... :)

It won't help.
We need it to be open and clear.
And don't want to become dirty, ML already became such a project recently.

I've just spoken to a friend who's camera store is an official Panasonic reseller. He is also the largest independent camera repairer in this city who does some of the easier repairs for Panasonic and other cameras.

He has promised to try and get 1.34 from Panasonic, but he's not sure if they will give it to him. Perhaps there will be more chance this way than if a customer simply asks Panasonic for it.

I'll post the outcome one way or the other.

Traditionaly companies don't up the firmware on cameras being made, and not let pre-existing buyers not get the firmware too at some point.

If you just happen to buy the GH1 days before the new shipments came to the store, your out of luck- cuz you bought the last camera off the shelve, that was made a month earlier... Not gonna happen; and I've never seen that happen before either..

I'm sure any day now, they'll release it..

I'm not so sure.

They would have a hard time explaining it if the only change in functionality was to block Ptool. I think they would be legally bound to list it as a different Ver number...but would also have to explain what the purpose/advantages were.

The whole thing, coming so late in the production life of the GH1 and GF1, is rather strange. They've had plenty of time to make Ver 1.34 available...if they wanted to.
