IBC 2017 :What to expect?

Steadygum (horrible name, but a good alternative to the shoulder mount solutions)

When I am shooting from a boat, I place the monopod on my vest pocket and mount the camera and lens on the monopod. The camera strap remains on my neck. The Steadygum is a cool design. It seems to make the movements smooth. The 1595 euro is a hard knock on the back though and is certainly tough to handle for many.

Now that's an idea. the "steadishirt". A shirt with a heavy duty pocket, that distributes the weight of the camera over your entire body. =)

I saw the "Steadystcik" mentioned in the Newsshooter comments which is $99. Newsshooter comments also mostly revolved around this item being way overpriced. It looks like a better design than the $99 Steadystick, beefier, and better with the weight going to the other shoulder, but still way overpriced. I think they're also trying to take advantage that a lot of people with ENG gear spent a lot of money on that ENG gear, so $1900 is affordable to them. Still feel like this is attempted robbery, charging way more than what it likely cost them to make.

Even with one of my ~$70K Vari's(body & glass), I agree with you and everyone else and say $1900 is way too much for what it is, especially today. $300-$500 is realistic.

I've got my patent paperwork in on the "steadychristmassweater". There's no reason you can't have an ugly sweater so you can enjoy the holidays with your family and friends while also being able to operate your ENG rig. :)

I've used something similar to that: a leather pouch on my belt, and a monopod at the right length so the camera ends in front of my eyes. It makes you an easily portable monopod: as long as your feet are not moving, it works great, but I couldn't get any useful footage while walking. YMMV.

(monopods are already easily portable, so, completely useless, at least that one I made for myself)
