IBC 2016 Sigma Cinema Lenses

Anyone else notice that the zoom direction on the Cine versions is the "standard" direction, opposite of the Sigma still versions but now the same as Canon?

Most reviews fail to mention that change. It is a significant alteration because going between Sigma still lenses and lenses with standard zoom direction would get confusing. Habit would often mess you up.

JP said zoom direction... not the focus direction. And no, I hadn't read or noticed that JP... but really glad they changed that on the cine versions of those lenses. Wonder if this means maybe they'll eventually change the stills versions too?

That article really makes it plain to ask, are any zooms really parfocal? But the single example that he pulled from inventory certainly did look good. Would be nice to see some other graphs of other lenses for comparison. But as he mentions, it can leave him (and their company) in a sticky spot if he shows an expensive brand X is much worse than "cheap" brand Y. A difficult line to tread indeed and it certainly doesn't tell the whole story. That said he normally shoots pretty straight when he talks about different lenses and how they stack up (good and bad).

Complement that with this, which doesn't use the sigma and doesn't look at the whole range (just the extremes), but also looks at copy-to-copy variation. Spoiler: there's a lot of that, even for something as "structural" as being parfocal.

I have the stills versions of these lenses and they don't breathe as much as that. Also, they should use a follow focus and a decent tripod. Lastly, and I like ProAV, I shop there all the time, but please teach your staff to carry equipment properly!
