I turned the iris dial.. and now it's not working?

I'm really confused about this and haven't found anything in the user manual about what is going on. I took my camera out for my first day of shooting, and went to adjust the focus and mistakenly turned the third ring which is for the iris (?). Well immediately the camera turned off, and now the only way it will come on is if I turn the dial to VCR or ext. cont.

Any ideas?? Admittedly I'm a newb so hopefully this isn't something basic, but I'm really stuck. Thanks..
 
Sounds to me like you accidentally locked the camera. There is a ring switch around the record button. Make sure it isn't in the "lock" position. There is also a slide switch near the record button on the handle.
