I simply can't focus my AF100 with it's build in FA. Need on camera monitor advice.

I tried my Z-finder on the LCD display and in it's current shape it doesn't cover the whole screen. It's made for 3:2 screens in 3" and I felt just the same unsharp image as I've felt with the Canons. The EVF is sharper and often I have one eye in the EVF and the other at the LCD screen so I can judge by both screens at the same time!
 
One of our AF100's is at Letus right now for measurements. Maybe we'll see an LCD magnifying product from them............of course I have no idea why they have my camera. :lipsrseal
 
I have also had some troubles with the FA on the AF100. I came on here to create my own topic about it and found this post. I think alot of it just comes from habit and the fact that alot of us are USED TO magnification for focusing on the 5D. I have tried the FIR on the B&W EVF and that tip definitely helps and is ALOT better than what I was getting before- so thank you for that tip.

However, I highly recommend the SmallHD DP-6. It has been GREAT for focusing as it has 1:1 pixel map (I assigned to button 1), Peaking, and their own version of FIR and with the combination of all of them- results are tack sharp focus. The problem is I dont want to always have to rely on having an external monitor.

With all that being said, put me down as a +1 for a FA firmware update :)

I LIKE MY hdmi manhatten lcd with the 720p and the pixel to pixel seting /mounts on all sides makes it handy . will give pics when my camera shows up.

TV Logic does not sell directly to end users. Lisa, if it's Lisa Ali, works for Preco.net, who is the master distributor for TV Logic, is speaking of Kent McGuire, my contact at Preco.net. Kent is on a plane and in Korea all week. Kent always gives good discounts and is one of the best reps. I've ever worked with for customer service. I'm sure he will be able to structure something for DVXUser members. It's not coincidental that both Small HD and TV Logic are back-ordered currently on models that use the same panel.

I am interested in getting the DP6 for the AF100, but how much bigger/better is it than the AF100 LCD? Can you post a picture of them next to each other so I can get an idea? I just worry 5.6" is won't be that much bigger than the on camera LCD, and hence not any better, but I could be wrong. But I also want something small like the DP6 to keep my current setup small and portable.

And I'd be interested in a DP6 group buy if it happens.
 
the DP6 is awesome, here's the HDSDI version of it on my Af-100... the screen it ultra sharp and perfect for field work and focusing, blows the junk out of the stock flip out monitor.

I'd like to participate in a group buy but why the TV logic over the smallHD?
 
With the TV logic you pay a little more and get waveforms. With the smallHD you don't. If anyone is interested, I can always talk to smallHD to see if they are interested in doing a group buy as well and then you can have either of them, as i am sure they are both great. My AF100 has waveforms so I am not so interested in that myself, and am thinking of picking up the DP6 shortly because I miss the one I beta tested :)
