Last weekend was my first time shooting with my new HVX200 and when i imported the video onto the computer it wasnt as clear as i expected it to be. There was this slight grain all over the shot.

I mainly shoot SNOWBOARDING, SKATEBOARDING and skiing... since im shooting action sports i decided to shoot 720 60p.. But i was wondering what shutter i should shoot in and some other various settings of the camera. Im shooting on sunny days and with snow so i need to know the iris settings and everything...

i need some help to get the clearest video

let's see when I shoot snowboarding I put my polorized filter on, 1/8 nd filter iris all the way open and about 120 shutter maybe 250 jus play with it. make sure your gain is set to 0 tht might be where your noise is coming in. have fun shooting and not snowboarding.

i went to the menu and when you say gain.. on the camera does it say mid gain and high gain?? then put those to zero

yea set your low to 0 and the the mid and high to whatever you prefer
mines set to L-0, M-3, H-6. 12 is just to much noise for me but if you need to shoot in extreme low light you might need it. once you set it in the menu theres a switch on the side where u can set it to low mid or high.

The issue may well be your scene file settings. They can have a distinct impact on the quality of the image you record. There's a lot of information here on this forum about scene file settings for reducing noise and creating a good image.

please someone help me figure out what is wrong.. i am willing to pay someone through paypal if they help me figure this out

the hvx200 is inherently a grainier camera than some others. and your scene file can have a LOT to do with that. as can your L-M-H gain setting.

you say "new hvx200" to my knowledge they dont make NEW hvx200 cameras. is your camera actually a 200a? as the 200a is a MUCH less grainy camera than a 200.

and if by "new" you mean new to you and used by someone else. then they may have jacked around with any number of settings. if this is the case, id reset the camera to factory settings and go from there.

Could be . 60P or requires more light. Try shooting 30P. Put it on full auto and see if things improve, then see what f stop and shutter speed the autopilot is using. Don't use the ND's if you don't need them. And make double sure that gain switch on the side is not on high gain, mine often gets bumped to that postion and screws up my shots before I notice it.

what do you mean by full auto? and the only way i have been adjusting the camera by light is by the nd filters.. is there other ways?
