I just thought I'd post this because its been itching me to scratch!
I've read a ton of workflow, granted not as much as some but I think I definitely see a difference in opinion when it comes to P2 vs. FS-100.
I am here to put my two pennys into the piggy-bank!
I just got back from Colorado and was shooting my crazy friends & others snowboarding @ Breck, A-basin, Vail & Keytstone. It was beautiful! The reason my friends are so crazy is cause they have no idea and clue as to what is actually going on during the shoot! I instructed them to shred & cut in front of the camera and I would be zoomed in to catch the footage. BLALBAla my Dodo friend Came about 1 foot from killing me and my camera and shredded right in front of me... drenched the HVX and the FS-100 & me with snow, (FROZEN WATER) that melts. I wanted to kill him! my heart dropped! the whole front of the camera looked like it just drove through a snow storm! I went to my setup and proceeded to calculate the dammmmage!!!
The first thing I did was took the lens hood off and cleaned all the ice off, the sun was out so it was warm. Ice was melting fast & I was blowing lots of melted ice off the HVX. Once that was done the FS-100 was literally FROZEN. The screen was frozen on the counter on the same second that the deed was done. It still read "REC" and everything, it did not respond, turn off, and was as doomed as far as I could see, and on top of that it was wet. I didnt let that ruin my day, I put it in the case and went back to the HVX. It turned on. I deleted the backup of the FS (stupid) but I was pissed! It worked too so..... I SHOT!
I eventually had to go to tape.
When we got back to the momo, I tried the FS in the room, did it work? NOPE! AHHHH!
Long sorry short. I got back too Ca La Fornia and I busted it (FS) out the case and hit power. IT TURNED ON, I uploaded it to my MBP and "BAM" it got it all X-cept The dopest shot, the one that did the deed! It still got all the other footage and it WORKED, I UpLOADED, & have nothing but good things to say about BOTH products!
Moral of the story, None let me down! I guess I just waisted everyones time cause I didn't make any 1 better that the other! oh well we'll just see what comes out of this! "opinions" anybody?
