I just finished a shoot where I used the squeeze mode for the first time. over 170 hours on my DVX and it was the first time...wow...what was I thinking all these years.

Haha... I haven't used the squeeze mode yet. I'll save it for sometime when I start to drift away from my dvx...

I now use the squeez mode more offten too.
it's because youtube is now displaying 16:9. it doesn't disply the black bars so I like to use squeez if I'm doing stuff for youtube!

Sematics,,, squeeze on the DVX is so close to native widescreen the human eye really can't detect it.

I've never used anything but squeeze simply cause 4:3 in 25p looks like sh*t and letterbox mode is just a cheesy way of making 4:3 look like widescreen when viewed on a 4:3 TV. Its the same as what a cheap ass DV handy cam has and its called "cinema mode",,, just black bars top on bottom on a 4:3 footprint (how cr&p)

I'm trying to learn more about the DVX100 cameras. Do they not shoot in 16:9? Can you tell me briefly what the difference is between the 100, 100b, 100a, 100p? How do these cameras compare to the Canon GL1 or GL2? Thanks for your patience.

I was a huge letterbox guy because a lot of people on here scared me away from squeeze. Everyone back in the day (2 years ago), people were scared to lose rez. I have finally made the switch and I love squeeze. I truly cannot see any difference.

A short of mine shot in letterbox:

Dude that Music video was so sharp it gave me a couple of cuts!
DVX100?? Not high-def?
Yeah...+1 on the bad-ass lighting thing.
That's how it's done.
