I don't get it...

As someone who has kids in college now I can tell you a 12 minute limit or 5 minute for Nikon to take video of kids would really suck. Get a video camera and still camera.
I would hate to miss those first steps of my kid walking because the DSLR overheated!!

Nikon has a huge market share and if you notice they are putting video in all of their cameras. Again I don't think the DSLR should be used to replace video cameras. They are going to have many great uses for sure.

Personally, I would double fist. One hand the dslr, the other a video camera.

Whatever, you are saying the same thing people said about cell phones. Cell phones are only for making phone calls. You don't want to add GPS, and pda functions into it. (Do people even know what a pda is now a days???).

Now a days, most people want their cell phones with gps, and pda functions. A cell phone maker would be hard press to not add these functions to a cell phone. In any case, whatever... you are entitled to you opinion, as am I :-)

I'm not saying they won't some day but it is early in the game. The video in the next couple of years is going to be really good. Right now the time limits, overheating, jello, workflows are all a pain in the butt.
I'd like to see some type of in camera VR system.

Also Nikon didn't put HD video on a $5,000 camera to take video of the kids at the Christmas play or to be a tourist camera either. There are good uses for VDSLRs and there are limits.

I like that!! I used to carry around a full size RCA VHS video camera. Those were the days!

dude, lose the camera and try to actually be there, that's how you don't miss it. i've taken pictures on a regular and often professional basis for over 30 years and rarely have i snapped one of something i wanted to experience, just things i wanted others to experience. :-)

Not talking about snapping pictures,,,,,talking about video. If your using a DSLR to take video and it overheats, when it shuts down you are going to miss something.
