from P2 to You Tube compression

I guess anyone has his preferences for size and subjective quality, but I would like to hear some different opinions of what compression are P2 owners using to hang, say, up to 5 min. videos on You Yube.

the only thing that count when upoading to youtube is how much motion there is in the frame and for how long. Lots of cut and lots of motion will produce the worst results.

I upload QTs of 320x240 compresed with Sorenson Squize 3 at 750kb/s. I did some tests and it really don't matter if your file is 95MB or 9MB -- if it looks decent in the uploading format it will look "decent" on youtube.

I have seen some strange GOP issues come up when the first frame is very detailed. I start mine with a black frame.
The hack for "HD Video" on YouTube is interesting, but for the most part, tweaking video on YouTube is like polishing turds.

i posted a timelapse that looks good in QT and like trash on youtube. unfortunately i cant seem to get it to look like the QT even when importing the video into flash myself.

I don't know where you see that in the article.

For example, the preset is couched with this language: "So, I decided to create a general preset that would work as a good starting point for clips under 5 minutes in length and use as much of the 100 MB size limit as I needed. Also, I wanted to use what I already owned (Compressor) and not have to buy any plug-ins or use any other software."

This article is great but the file sizes are insane. A 5-min clip would be over 200 mb using these settings and YouTube allows 100 mb max.

this isn't the same as the youetube hack where you trick their servers to get HD quality in flash, now those file sizes are insane.
